Richmond received its first legalized charter in 1782 when it boasted a population of less than 6,000.   The city of Richmond population is 197,790 based on the 2000 census and it continues to enjoy growth.  The city has an abundance of historical sites, landmarks, grand parks, indoor and outdoor activities and many opportunities as well as a wealth of colleges and universities. Richmond is easily accessible to surrounding historical towns and cities that also present the history of Virginia’s growth from colonial times thru to today.  A wonderful place to live.
