The West End is both an urban and suburban region of the Richmond, Virginia Metro Area. The West End encompasses parts of the City of Richmond and Henrico County. The boundaries are loosely defined as being north of the James River, west of I-195, south of Broad Street and east of the Goochland County Line. Interstate 64 traverses the Henrico County/Richmond City area in a diagonal Northwest/Southeast direction and is the primary route for commuting the Metro area. The West End is made up of older, stately mini-mansions on tree-lines streets as well as post World War 2 neighborhoods and suburban “cul-de-sac” subdivisions. The West End is rich in history, and there are numerous museums and entertainment venues, as well as shopping malls and parks.
